Some wise words on a chat group I visit occasionally. I'll let them speak for themselves.
What I'm seeing is that we all look at the situation through the lens of our own experience and perspectives. I agree with this and have recently been raked over the coals by US and EU citizens who feel Russia and Putin are the ultimate enemy. I've even been called a Hitler apologist, even though I've never referenced Hitler, been told I am disrespecting Holocaust survivors, even though this has nothing to do with the Holocaust and been told to please start my own group if I don't capitulate to their version of the truth. That in itself is an oxymoron, silence the dissenters? Then call Russia out for closing media outlets.
One thing I learned during Covid, is tolerance for different solutions for different region's people. We all laughed at NDZ for the cigarette ban, but we have a nation that commonly shares cigarettes, we lamented on the alcohol ban, but we are a nation of drinkers who love to hang around in taverns, bars and braai's.
Who are we to have to make a stand against Russia when we don't know what is true? I will make a stand against war of any kind, but picking sides just furthers the paradoxical division and escalates radical extremism as seen in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Eritrea, Syria, Japan, Vietnam, Somalia etc etc... and on that note....is NATO the angel? And what is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization doing fiddling in the Red Sea, Black Sea and all the other seas and regions?
Why did we not speak out when little brown and black babies were killed and maimed in the Middle Eastern invasions? Why did we not speak out when the US invasion in Bengazi turned out to be unwarranted, sending Libya into chaotic doom after recovering from Italian bullying in the early 20th century? No consequences for the perpetrator? Rules for thee, not for me?
I personally maintain my right to neutrality until we can see what is actually going on lest we throw the baby out with the bath water...
