The Ukraine conflict explained in one minute

As a species, we’re programmed to take sides; even when we have no skin in the game. I know lots of people who will see a sporting event on TV involving people or teams they know nothing about and will immediately start rooting for one side.

If we understand how that works, we understand why so many uniformed people have such strong opinions about Ukraine.

If I was inclined to take sides (which I’m not), I would probably pick Ukraine, simply because I think Milla Jovovich is kind of hot.

As Lennon / McCartney put it :

“Well the Ukraine girls really knock me out;

"They leave the West behind…”

So let’s try a different approach for the next 30 seconds: Let’s assume that we’ve stepped into a bar and are now watching a game being played on TV but we’ve never seen this game before. That’s rough because it’s difficult to pick a side when we don’t know what’s going on.

Now picture that one side is playing soccer, another side is playing hockey, and the referee is trying to use the rules of American football (which basically is rugby wearing armour with a commercial break for TV audiences every five minutes).

I trust this brief explanation has helped you understand exactly what’s going on.
